I recorded some video with my Samsung digital camera, but when I plug it into my computer, and go to......?

play a video, it opens windows media player, but there is no picture, just audio. Delight help?! I know that there is video, because all of the videos play fine with audio on the camera. I also tried uploading one if the videos toyoutube and it works fine. Why isnt it working ton my computer!?
It also says, when playing in windows media player, “playing song: ( and then the name of the video)” but it is a video not a song!

You need the right codec for the type of video.
Usually it is an avi or even mpeg 2
you can bring up to date your media player for this
or better yet, stop by windows media, it really sucks huge time. You can use winamp, DivX player, Real Player etc…
Windows media is one of the worst players out there

but for your situation here, it appears you have a Divx video.
You will need to bed in the Divx codecs or use the Divx player.
You can get it for free here: http://www.divx.com/divx/windows/

You doubtless need a video driver (codec) for playing such video even if you have been watching other videos on your PC.
Try opening that file from Real Player or Divx Player as sometime these player (while not playing the video) tells you which driver is vital. I for myself faced a similar conundrum a while ago.
Hope this helps !!!

Which camera is it? Its most liable a codec conundrum. depending on your camera, it could be recording in avi or mp4 format, so the audio format might be mp3, which WMP can play, but for the video you might need to download extra codecs, that s why you get signal but no video. So check your user manual to see what s the default video recording format, and then web search it, most codecs are a free download away.

the reason i’m getting for no signal is can’t find codets?

Answer by khorat k
Pictures and video are not signal files, they are set alight and dark pictures. Signal files are usually referred to as audio files. You do not refer to any audio files so it would seem that you are expecting what you do not have.

Try and let windows media player search for the codecs.
Additionally download the free K-lite codec pack from:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Mega_Codec_Pack.htm

which has a HUGE pool.
Customised codecs are doubtless there on the camera’s CD though.
additionally try the VideoLAN media player renowned to playnearly each file.
It’s available at:
